Scopeworks was established in 2005 with the merger of two acquired companies which were involved in Legal and Medical Transcription services. At that time, SWA was the non-voice BPO of Paxys and grew to over 1,000 FTE operating across 3 sites in the Philippines. Scopeworks is a 100% subsidiary of Paxys, Inc. (PSE: PAX), an investment holding company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) with a history of successful investments in companies engaged in diversified global services.
Paxys was the first call center firm to be listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). After its listing in 2004, Paxys diversified into the BPO space through major investments, acquisitions and joint ventures. At its peak, Paxys had close to 10,000 FTE through multiple subsidiaries serving all major BPO markets across the Travel, Telecommunications, Retail and Financial Services industries for the English-speaking markets of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
SWA is affiliated with Paxys China, a 50-50 joint venture between Paxys, Inc. and Beijing River Nonna IT Co. Ltd. Paxys China provides a variety of back office solutions, including order processing, data entry, document management, as well as outbound voice work services to domestic and international clients via multi-lingual (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) customer service agents. The company operates a 100-seat facility in the Dalian Software Park in China and has a co-location facility arrangement with China Telecom for an additional 500 seats for expansion.
After Paxys divested from a number of its voice BPO subsidiaries and partnerships starting in 2011, SWA and its 50-50 joint venture in Dalian, China were re-established as full service BPO entities and expanded its range of BPO services to include customer service, technical support and other voice-related services in various industry segments. Paxys has a total market capitalization of ₱3.9B and is affiliated with the Usaha Tegas Group (UT), a $10B Malaysian-based conglomerate with interests in telecommunications, broadcast, property development and oil & gas logistics in the Asia-Pacific region.
